January 13, 2011 -- I never, never thought I would say I miss my commute, but - I miss my commute. The old saying is true, "you don't know what you've got until it's gone".
It's been awhile since I posted an adventure. That is for good reason - on Christmas Eve I was playing basketball and tore my ACL and damaged my meniscus in my right leg. After re-construction surgery on January 7th, I've been steadily recovering. Perhaps one of the biggest frustrations is complete and total reliance on others for about everything. Don't misunderstand me, I am profoundly grateful for family and friends who have reached out but my independent nature is fighting for freedom. While I still have to get to work, my commute isn't my commute. I now get to share it with others.
Until my torn ACL, the freedom I had enjoyed during the daily grind was my commute. It was a time to myself to contemplate, greet the day and prepare for the demands of a working world. The following pictures are an ode to what was once all mine...
