October 14th &15th, 2010 -- I'm not going to lie, I have wanted to go Elk hunting forever. My family really never were hunters. I don't think they are opposed to hunting, they just never had a reaon to do it and since we lived in the city stalking some nice cuts of steak from the grocery store seemed like the easiest thing to do, but I digress... When my neice and brother-in-law invited me to tromp around the mountains of San Pete County I jumped at the opportuity.
For mid-October it was incredibly beautiful and temperate. I slept in "Monty" my truck under a few blankets and a sleeping bag and stayed nice and warm.
One the second day we decided to hike the peak of South Tent Mountain for fun. It's the largets peak in San Pete County at around 11,400 ft. and offers some incredible views.
Although we never shot an Elk the hikes were amazing! What a great adventure.
