City of Rocks, New Mexico

February 19th, 2010-- As we traveled back from a wonderful weekend with friends in the Gila National Forest we stopped at City of Rocks State Park on the way to Deming, NM.
Volcanic ash over 30 million years ago hardened into incredible rock formations as wind and water sculpted the monolithic labyrinth over time.
Today, the unique rock formations stand almost as a silent city with vacant streets and empty buildings. You could spend hours at the site just exploring which is just what we did. Now we can't wait to return and spend more time.
